Going into the holidays, 180Fusion had the chance to hold a webinar with Google.com on how businesses can find success by taking advantage of Google’s products during the biggest shopping season of the year.
The webinar examined holiday highlights of 2012, and insights for succeeding in 2013. In 2012, more than 80% of consumers said that the internet influenced which stores they chose to visit and although stores struggled during the holiday season in 2012, ecommerce grew 4x more than in-store sales.
Mobile was also a point of discussion for ecommerce success during the webinar. Mobile purchases made up 16% of purchases on Black Friday, a 67% increase from the year before. The trend of consumers using mobile to make purchases is only expected to increase.
Webinar attendees were urged to consider the timing of when they are driving traffic through internet advertising and how they should adjust their messages for the biggest shopping days of the season. Specific AdWords campaign tips included creating multi-lingual campaigns to reach more consumers, targeting by location and device, and increase bids ahead of high demand and spending.
To get the most out of Google Advertising for the holidays attendees were encouraged to take advantage of Product Listing Ads, Display Ads, and Mobile Ads. A mobile website was also discussed as a must to successfully reach customers. Most importantly, business owners were encouraged to begin their holiday strategies early to make the most out of their online presence.
Google’s Business Development Manager who co-hosted the Webinar had this to say:
Google’s most recent studies indicate that nearly 50% of shoppers plan to make a holiday purchase online this year. Google and 180Fusion look forward to sharing ways for companies to maximize
their online strategies. ~Heather Wilburn, Google
